1976
  • After winning an Emmy award last season for casting the hit show Desperate Housewives, Scott Genkinger received yet another Housewives nomination at this year’s Emmy ceremony.

1979

  • David Reid is an executive with AleHouse Restaurants. He has just moved to a three-acre farm complete with 3 horses, right outside of Tampa, FL. David is married and has 2 girls, ages 12 and 8.

1980

  • Ben Flint is incredibly busy. His current CD World Soul Project was released earlier this year. He has done several CD release parties in Memphis and in San Francisco. Ben was recently appointed director of the Center for Spiritual Living Church in San Jose. This year, he taught workshops in Spain and in the summer performed several concerts in Brazil.

1982

  • Susan Marshall Powell had a full plate this fall with several tours throughout Europe with Cat Power and the Memphis Rhythm Band. On top of all of that, Katharine McPhee, the runner up on American Idol, is cutting an original Susan Marshall composition on her next album. She is currently working on her latest CD, which she hopes to have released this spring.

  • Heidi Schatz Allums has had a successful career in graphic design where she has worked for a variety of brand names. She is currently working towards her MBA, which she hopes to have completed this spring.

1983

  • Jim Barrett continues to have tremendous success with his L.A. based company Edge Creative. He produces promotional work and programming for numerous major networks.

  • David McOwen has been working as director of distributor earnings at NSA, an international marketing company, located in Collierville, TN. He has lived in Atlanta, GA and New Orleans, LA.

1984

  • While flying the friendly skies, Gretchen Burnett Simrall loves her job of fifteen years at Northwest Airlines. You can catch her doing the tango in Buenos Aires or sampling regional cheeses and wines around the world…while getting paid for it. She currently lives in Chicago, IL with her husband. /li>

1985

  • Teresa Beckers, a former faculty member, has thrown in the theatrical ropes and decided to retire as artistic director of The Unity Theatre. She will have more to say later about her upcoming career change.

  • After graduating from the University of Memphis with a BA in communication, Troupe Bryant served as a consultant for a radio station in Little Rock, AR. He later became a flight attendant and a pilot instructor as well as owner of his own computer company. He currently works as a pharmaceutical rep covering southern Arkansas. He is the proud father of 3 boys: Ridge 7, Garrett 11, and Logan 11.

  • Dan McCleary performed this year in the Orlando Shakespeare Festival’s production of Julius Caesar (Brutus) and directed two new plays, one about Buster Keaton, another about poet Anne Sexton, at OSF and Shakespeare & Company. After directing S&Co’s production of Servant of Two Masters this past summer, he sailed the Northeast Atlantic in his new boat. In the new year, he’ll be acting again in Orlando (Falstaff) and directing at the Georgia Shakespeare Festival.

  • Watch the big screen for Chris Parnell this coming year. He had roles in 4 different movies shot this summer.

1987

  • David Hershey added two more Emmys under his belt making a grand total of eleven. David is still working as the director of promotions at a CBS owned station in Dallas. His daughter Hannah will turn 7 in January and his younger daughter DJ will be 4 next year.

  • Kimberly Heimert Hecht is a mom! Her daughter Ragan Alexandra was born on November 7. Kimberly, her husband Peter, and Ragan are doing fabulously well at their home in NYC.

1989

  • After high school, Shae Yates went on to Loyola University in New Orleans and received her BA in English. She now resides in Jacksonville, FL where she still performs at local theatres. She is married to her husband Rob and has a son named Luke.

1990

  • Gwen Stanton Whitfield has had a very busy life after she left Germantown. In 1995, Gwen graduated from the University of Mississippi with a degree in Music Education. From there she and her husband Morgan Whitfield moved to Richmond, VA to attend seminary. After leaving Virginia, she and her husband moved overseas for a year to explore the hills of Switzerland. Now they reside in Donalsonville, GA where Morgan is the minister of the 1st Presbyterian Church and she is the choir director. They have two children, Morgan 7 and Brendan 21 months.

1992

  • Ted Horrell is still at Germantown High School. Only this year he is Germantown’s newest assistant principal. Ted also married his lovely wife Sarah at a beautiful ceremony last February.

  • Jeremy Padawer was featured in The Los Angeles Daily News about his success with Jakks Pacific Inc. where he works as the vice president of boys and entertainment and pet products marketing. The article reported, “In the world of wrestling toys for boys, he’s champion.”

  • Chris Ridenhour was recently featured in an article in New York Observer Magazine. The story highlighted the emerging role of managers (like Chris) in the entertainment field. Chris is the manager at Evolution Management and represents The Grudge screenwriter Stephen Susco and Saw II director Darren Bousman, among others.

  • Laurel Riley Meyer currently works for the new John Henson Show on the TV Guide Channel. It airs Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 12 PM.

1993

  • Wes Day is touring the country in a new stadium size version of Blue Man Group. Wes is performing and had a hand in writing the script.

1994

  • Mary Kathryn Chevraux Ludwig has a new addition to her family. After giving birth to her second son Daniel, older brother Jake has someone to ignore.

  • Mollie Parnell still maintains her busy schedule. She is currently working as a producer for The Today Show, Weekend Edition on NBC with Lester Holt and Campbell Brown.

1995

  • Shawn Davis is tying the knot to fiancé Paizhe Presley sometime next year. Still balancing acting gigs in NYC, Shawn can be seen in a commercial for 888Poker and as an actor on The Guiding Light.

  • Andrew Bryan has just finished his term as musical director/conductor of Les Misérables after almost 2 seasons. He has begun work on the 10th anniversary edition of Matthew Bourne’s Swan Lake.

1996

  • Elizabeth Ridenhour still resides in Birmingham, AL where she recently made a career move to a full service creative firm called Cayenne Creative. As an account executive, she handles large local clients as well as national accounts based in Birmingham.

1997

  • Jackie Krimmel Douthit currently works for Country Music Television where she has done a few short shows and long form documentaries. She recently finished working on the documentary American Revolutions: The History of Southern Rock. She is now working on the station’s new broadband channel.

  • Tamuna Sabedasvilli, an exchange student from Tbilisi, Georgia, sends special greetings. Tamuna is the national project director for the United Nations Development Fund for Women in Georgia.

  • Brooke Smythe has some very exciting news. Brent Walters, class of 1996, got down on one knee and popped the big question, “Brooke will you marry me?” and she said “Yes!” Brooke cannot wait to see everyone on the big day. She will have the time and place at a later date.

1998

  • Kaolin Bass was recently featured in a new sitcom pilot entitled Ugly Betty.

  • After balancing accounting books and checking payroll, one can find Jeff Curbo at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst currently working on his MBA in accounting

1999

  • In 2004, Allison Mellor Woodward received her BA in sports and leisure management from the University of Memphis. She met her husband Doug while attending the university. Allison has relocated to Denver, CO, where she took a position with the American Heart Association.

  • Tessa White is glad to make this her 2nd year in NYC. With her sister Paula White, they have a traveling cabaret show titled White Girls. They are taking it to Wilson, NC in March and Bisbe, AZ in April. They hope to bring it to Memphis in a theatre near you. Tessa still works for Collective Opera Company while auditioning for Equity roles.

2000

  • Lauren Hill was appointed assistant manager at a new Starbucks store that opened this month in Collierville.

2001

  • Doug Baron currently resides in Jacksonville, FL and works for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Florida as a match support specialist on an Americorp scholarship.

  • Rob Edwards is currently employed as a news producer at WTVG-TV, the ABC owned and operated station in Toledo, OH. In May, Rob graduated magna cum laude from the University of Missouri-Columbia with a degree in broadcast journalism.

  • Michelle Hayes has left Germantown, TN and moved on to the Big Peach (Atlanta) to serve as a senior executive for Edelman and Co., the largest independently owned public relations firm in the world. When she is not traveling the nation attending to her client’s needs, she volunteers for public broadcasting outlets. She is an active member of Young Democrats of Atlanta.

  • Carmen Triplett sends her greetings to everyone. She is currently employed at ALSAC/St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital as an associate with the volunteer marketing team. She is pursuing a Master’s Degree at the University of Memphis.

2003

  • This year, the University of Iowa chose our own Patrick Ashcraft to receive the Nicholas Meyer Dramatic Writing Scholarship in the amount of $3,800. Patrick’s first play Orson Welles Is Dead will be produced at the university in February.

2004

  • Séra Babakus received the foreign language department’s outstanding student of the year award at the University of Memphis.

  • Catie Broadwater is in her third year at Middle Tennessee State University. She is currently stage managing the children’s play Ramona Quimby. This winter, she packs her bags for London where she will study abroad for a few weeks.

  • Kirie Taylor was recently married to her new husband, Joseph.

2005

  • Jeff Ingram had the lead role of George Gibbs in the University of Alabama’s production of Our Town this fall.
