- Each year the Germantown High School Fine Arts
Department participates in the Germantown
Festival at C.O. Franklin/ Morgan Woods Park in
Germantown, TN. Some of the activities fine arts
students participate in at the festival include
face painting, spin art, and clowning. Students
also sell helium balloons, operate a children's
game area (Game Land) and tell fortunes (Madame
Knu). In addition to the fun activities, the
department offers refreshments to the weary
festival goers.
- The other large fund raiser that the students
participate in during Germantown Festival is the
selling of Entertainment coupon books. These
coupon books are filled with coupons for a
variety of restaurants, theatres, stores, and
recreation. The money made from these coupon
books help support the Fine Arts Department and
the Seth Matthew
Rowan Endowment Fund.
- In addition to providing activities at the
festival, the students run a three-hour live
television broadcast from the festival grounds.
The television show is broadcast throughout the
entire Germantown community on the high school's
local access station Channel 17. Student hosts
and reporters interview a variety of local
personalities as well as guests who come from
around the country to present and sell their
original arts and crafts. Entertainment is also
provided periodically on the show by local
singers and performers.
