Poplar Pike Playhouse Thespians Troupe 912 Information

Germantown High School's Thespian Troupe 912 is an honor organization which offers drama students a chance to share their common interests and concerns about theatre and the dramatic arts.
The troupe works hard to benefit and encourage the productions of the Poplar Pike Playhouse and the entire fine arts program at GHS. The troupe is annually involved in several projects intended to promote theatre and the fine arts. Included among these activities are the Theatreland Activities at the Germantown Festival, the annual Alumni Banquet, and several "theatre-night-out" festivities. The Thespian Troupe is also heavily involved with the school's public access cable station, GHS-TV, Germantown Community Television cable channel 17.
The Thespian chapter strives to serve both the school and the entire community by assisting with the presentation of quality theatrical works.

The troupe was first chartered in 1974 with 10 members. The first sponsor was Alice Clough. Over 800 members have since been initiated, along with several honorary members.
Many members of Troupe 912 have gone on to become Broadway actors, movie and television stars, professional television producers and anchors, film directors, lighting and sound technicians, and scenic designers.
Troupe #912 has flourished into a department nationally recognized for its long list of prestigious accomplishments. The Rockefeller Brothers Fund Award, the visitation by the People's Republic of China, and the Highwire Magazine award are just a few of our many honors. Guest artists including actress Kathy Bates, playwright Jerome Lawrence, stage combat director David Leong, actor Patrick Stewart, and composer Charles Strouse have all worked in our playhouse. Many of our shows have been selected to appear mainstage at the International Thespian Conference, the Southeastern Theatre Conference, and the Tennessee State Thespian Conference. Our television studio has received Emmy Awards, dozens of Hometown Video awards, a Cable Ace award, and Channel One Awards.
